This course has been personally designed to provide exclusive one-on-one practical training in the professional workplace. Students gain the introductory knowledge and the skills necessary to perform a variety of pet grooming and clipping techniques.

Course Outline

  • Equipment and maintenance
  • Poodles basic grooming
  • Mixed breeds clipping
  • Health and welfare
  • Understanding skin conditions,
  • Flea control, shampoo and rinses
  • Anal gland expression, dental hygiene,
    ear cleaning and plucking, and nail trimming
  • Techniques of scissoring, blending and the use of universal comb attachments.

Grooming Kit

All participants are able to purchase a grooming kit or components from the shop within our premises at a discounted price.

All equipment is supplied for the duration of the course.

Duration

COURSES AVAILABLE BY APPOINTMENT

  • 1 day courses for advanced training
  • 12 day courses for a certificate in dog grooming and clipping training. Vital to operate your own salon or mobile business
  • ½ day private lesson approximately takes 3 ½ - 4 hours to learn how to clip your own pet (AVAILBLE MONDAYS ONLY)

Instructor

Kim Dean has been in the grooming industry for over 30 years.

Kim first started out working in a poodle parlour in the south of England. For the next 11 years Kim operated a grooming and clipping service, as well as working at a small animal hospital in Perth.

Today, Kim and David own a large successful grooming salon operating south of the river. It specialises in creative clipping of all breeds from the pampered pooch to best in show.

In October 2002 Kim was presented with an Australian Micro Business Award - the Western Australian Winner in the Animals Category.

Accredited

Kim Dean has also successfully completed the following courses;

  • Study of clipper and scissor techniques
  • The grooming and clipping of cats
  • Companion Animal Hygienist (CAH) groomers' certificate program
  • Member of PIAA.

We are now government approved for the Work for the Dole training credits program.

Certificate

On successful completion of our course students will receive a 'Certificate of Competency in clipping and grooming training' this certificate is endorsed by Armadale, Byford vet, Ranford vet, Hanley vet and Serpentine Vet.
